Adults Trust Information From Social Media at Record Level

According to a new study, the percentage of US adults who trust news on social media has reached a record high. Compared to the baseline category, Americans now have a nine-point advantage in choosing to trust a news organization that makes additional reporting material publicly available. Several factors affect the level of trust in news on social media.

Americans’ trust in President Biden to provide accurate information on COVID-19 is on the decline

A new survey by the Axios/Ipsos Foundation shows that Americans’ trust in President Biden to provide reliable information on the COVID-19 outbreak is declining. The poll found that Americans have a low confidence level in the CDC and President Biden, and only 40% of respondents have the highest xnxx level of trust. Furthermore, more than half of Americans believe the media exaggerates the threat of COVID-19. Finally, while most Americans support the need for people to get vaccinated, skeptics say that the vaccine is unsafe and may not protect against COVID-19.

In recent polls, Americans’ trust in the CDC is also declining. While 70% of the public viewed the CDC favorably in 2015, that number has fallen to 46% in March and only 19% in September.

Among the public, one in three Americans says that the number of cases of COVID-19 is increasing. At the same time, another third believes that it is decreasing. However, nearly two-thirds say that COVID cases in their state have remained the same or decreased over the past 6 months. Furthermore, more than half of respondents believe that the restrictions on COVID-19 are unnecessary.

The new survey shows that Americans’ concern about the COVID pandemic has returned with the spread of the Delta variant. In fact, three-quarters of Americans are concerned about the new virus. At the same time, half of those who are unvaccinated are concerned. Moreover, half of Americans say it is risky to return to pre-COVID activities. However, Americans’ perception of risk has increased since mid-July and has risen by 24 points since late June.

Despite these findings, there is some good news.

Despite the uncertainty, more than half of Americans say they feel hopeful today compared with half a month ago. Additionally, a third of Americans have returned to their pre-COVID lifestyles, and a further twenty-three percent expect to do so within six months. This is the lowest level of social distancing since the Summer of 2021.

In addition, the report found that only a third of Americans understand the current toll of the virus. They believe that 1,000 people die daily, even though COVID-19 cases are declining. However, the survey also found that Americans’ perception of the virus decreases as the Omicron variant recedes. This is a good sign for Americans who want to return to pre-COVID life.

Despite the increasing concern about COVID-19, a recent survey showed that 50% of Americans have had the disease at some point. However, many of these Americans never tested and thus did not know whether they were at risk of contracting it. Furthermore, only 9% of Americans have taken precautions to prevent COVID-19 infection.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been President Donald Trump’s biggest joyclub during the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC is making mistakes, and its credibility is on the decline. The attacks on CDC have made it difficult for the organization to produce accurate information about the virus. In addition, the Trump administration has censored agency leaders, manipulated CDC publications, and forced the agency to replace its widely praised guidelines with weaker ones, further aggravating public confusion.

Americans’ perceptions of bias and inaccuracy in news

A new Gallup survey reveals that Americans perceive political news as biased and inaccurate and tend to think that various ways to counter misinformation are effective. These include providing reputable news sources with higher prominence in the news feeds on websites, links to other news organizations, and providing expert ratings. In addition, the survey results suggest that people are more willing to believe reputable news sources and rely on them to deliver the news.

However, the report also shows that Americans are more critical of news from social media. In a survey conducted in February and March 2017, Gallup asked 1,440 US adults about their perceptions of news bias and inaccuracy on social media. They found that nearly half of them viewed news from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube as biased or inaccurate. In comparison, according to the survey, only a tiny proportion of Americans viewed information from Twitter as being unbiased.

The results showed that Americans’ perceptions of bias and inaccuracies in the news from social media were influenced by their education level. Those with higher levels of education had lower perceptions of information as biased and inaccurate. Additionally, the political affiliation also shaped their views. People identifying as Republicans were more likely to perceive news coverage as personal than those of Democratic or liberal alliance.

The study also found that Americans’ perceptions of bias and inaccuracies in the news from social media were influenced by their ideological affiliation. This suggests that Americans’ perceptions of prejudice and inaccuracy in the information are primarily shaped by their own perceptions and values.

These results also show that the media is part of the gatekeeping process that affects the news.

It involves the political agenda and how people evaluate political information. The news media is an essential mechanism for informing marginalized populations. The media can help people become more aware of political issues and make informed choices.

The public media have the most reputable reputation, with the Associated Press and PBS rated as the least biased news sources. However, the Pew research also found that fewer Americans think that news media are personal than they think. This suggests that more emphasis is needed on demonstrating accuracy and fairness than bias.

The media are overwhelmingly liberal, but this does not necessarily mean that journalists are more liberal than average Americans. In fact, many journalists’ views are far to the left of the average American. Moreover, while many journalists are liberal, they claim to be objective when reporting the news.

Despite the widespread use of social media for news, people expect to be given only some of the truth. As a result, they read the news with a certain level of skepticism. Rather than accepting the information, they look for more concrete proof that it is true.

Factors that influence trust in news from social media

A recent study revealed that nearly half of the American population now reports getting their news from social media. The most popular networks are Facebook and YouTube, followed by Twitter and Instagram. However, many factors can affect the trust levels of news consumers. The research also showed that users who place a high value on trust are more likely to engage with news through social media, pay for it, install news apps, and share it with their friends.

One study found that the location of news sources like pornohirsch played a significant role in news consumers’ trust levels. Older adults were likelier to trust news from reliable sources than younger adults. Additionally, college graduates and nongraduates were more likely to value sources that cite credible sources.

The research also found that Americans primarily mention accuracy and unbiasedness as reasons for trusting news organizations. Americans are most likely to trust unbiased reporting when they can determine whether the information is accurate. In fact, more than half of all respondents said that they trust news organizations based on accuracy and lack of bias.

Political affiliation did not seem to affect respondents’ trust.

Republicans were less likely than Democrats to trust a news organization with a partisan reputation. This is consistent with other research, which shows that political affiliation affects how people view news organizations. It is common for people to label sources as conservative or liberal based on their political preferences. However, this effect is not universal and may vary between different groups.

While it’s possible to build trust again, most Americans who lost confidence are less optimistic. They believe that belief in news media cannot be fully restored. In a democratic society, this lack of trust is a significant concern. But, the good news is that most people who lost confidence in the news media in recent years believe it will eventually return. But, unfortunately, just 30% say it will never be restored.

Polish New Media Law: Is it aimed at Silencing Independent News?

Thousands of people in Poland are protesting against a new media law that is seen as a move to silence an independent U.S. broadcaster. The law would prevent non-European media companies from owning a controlling stake in Polish television networks. As a result, discovery Inc., the company that owns the flagship evening news show, would have to sell off its controlling stake to keep its ownership in its country’s media industry.

Thousands of people take to the streets protesting the new media law that silences independent news.

Thousands of protesters have showup to the streets across Poland to denounce the new law, which they say will restrict free speech and media freedom. The government has been accused of acting like Ukraine’s Viktor Yanukovych, who ‘tamed’ the media by passing laws to control the judiciary. Public television has been converted into the government’s mouthpiece, reporting all issues with significant distortion and manipulation.

In a statement issued to the press, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the law was not directed against any group meant to protect the country’s democratic values and free press. He also accused foreign entities of trying to influence the debate over the controversial COVID-19 vaccine. The bill is set for discussion in the parliament on Wednesday, and it looks like it will pass.

However, the law was opposed by TVN, the country’s leading news website.

In addition to the draft legislation, demonstrators chanted against the government’s plans to silence the independent media. The new law would ban non-European media companies from owning a controlling stake in TVN. Which operates an all-news network with a flagship evening news show watched by millions of people. It also threatens to punish journalists and lawyers who write articles criticizing the government.

Protesters are challenging the new media law in Poland, which the government passed in December 2017. The law was enacted despite the widespread opposition to the law. Thousands of people have taken to Poland’s streets to protest the new media law. But the government’s new media law has triggered a violent reaction from activists, who have accused the government of silencing independent media.

The proposed new media law is not yet final. It still needs to be approved by the senate and by the president. The ruling party, PiS, recently lost its majority in the lower house, which meant it would need a veto from the president. The opposition party, the Left, has urged President Andrzej Duda to veto the bill, but it hasn’t yet been confirmed. The far-right Confederation party is expected to abstain, which means that the law’s current version may be blocked.

Journalists are barred from reporting on conflict with ethnic groups.

The government’s campaign of repression against the Uyghur people has been called genocide by the Biden administration. Chinese officials have demolished mosques and forbidden studying the Uyghur language in schools. They’ve also harassed and threatened Uyghurs living abroad, including prominent Redtube journalists. And in Xinjiang, journalists are increasingly being approached by Chinese authorities and beaten.

The governing Fidesz party is increasingly controlling the media in Hungary, where its messages reinforce government disinformation. While co-optation has not been successful in Serbia, intimidation of journalists and lack of trust in mainstream media has severely inhibited their work. Meanwhile, a lack of faith in the press and a profit-generating business model has also restricted the work of journalists. This situation has undermined the media’s credibility and prevented journalists from reporting on ethnic conflict in Serbia.

PiS intervened in the public broadcasting sector in 2015 and 2020

While these actions may seem like a necessary evil, they do pose a range of concerns. PiS’ activities related to the presidential election in 2020 are particularly problematic from a democratic standpoint. While some have questioned the exercise of executive power over a state of emergency, others argue that the government has failed to demonstrate its commitment to democratic norms. In addition, the government’s curtailment of parliamentary rights shows a lack of commitment to democracy.

The Polish political system is highly polarized, with the prominent cleavage between the two major parties, PiS and PO. They differ significantly in their socio-demographic features. Following the elections in October 2019, five parties will be represented in the Sejm. The two main parties, PiS, and the PO, will be joined by the Left (Lewica), the third-party Solidarity Party, and a minor party, the Civic Coalition.

In 2015, the PiS government began intervening in the public broadcasting sector. By 2020, it had turned its attention to the print market, attempting to buy the independent Polska Press. These actions were widely seen as attacks on the democratic and pluralistic nature of the media. These actions are consistent with the government’s intentions to “recolonize” Poland’s media in 2020.

Poland: why is a new media law prompting street protests and outrage from the US?

TVP’s partisan coverage of EU elections

The TVP’s two flagship channels have been among the most popular in Poland during the 2018 EU elections. However, the company has been under the control of the ruling PiS party for years, and its biased coverage of the polls undermined the election results. Election observers from the OSCE noted that the lack of impartiality in the media had hindered voters’ ability to make an informed decision. The PiS government has also spoken of plans to take over the media to control it and eliminate independent journalists and media outlets.

However, the EU Commission has warned Poland against jeopardizing EU values by passing the new media law. A debate will take place on the issue on 13 January. TVP’s president Malgorzata Sadurska said earlier this week that the new media law violated the EU’s values and principles. The new media law has already forced senior public media officials to resign. Meanwhile, a prominent TVP journalist was fired from datezone for her partial coverage of EU elections but was reinstated after an ethics committee’s review.

KRRiT published a report on 11 June 2019 criticizing the TVP.

The KRRiT was set up to monitor public television and ensure that it is impartial and pluralistic. It consists of five members, including a PiS councilor. The KRRiT’s report, however, did not end up being adopted. Ultimately, Krajewski hopes the judicial review will reform the Polish media industry.

The new law in Poland severely limits the powers of the National Broadcasting Council, which the Civic Platform government controls. However, libel and insult against religious beliefs, public officials, and religious organizations are now crimes. In addition, several lawsuits have been filed against the media in Poland for blatantly biased reporting of the EU elections. And PiS blames KRRiT for political bias in the Polish media.

Opposition strategists recognize the need for a more balanced public service. But many Poles feel neglected by government policies and doubt that the opposition can provide a viable alternative. Therefore, the Law and Justice Party’s decision is crucial, as it will determine the direction of the country’s future. This political crisis has also led the European Commission to invoke Article 7 of the new media law. If this is the case, Poland could be imposed with sanctions or lose its voting rights in the Commission.

Hentai is the most searched content worldwide

The anime genre attracts attention from the first moment it is seen, but there is no doubt that the Hentai genre is one of the most requested by adults. With a great tradition in its country of origin, Japan, and a broad audience worldwide, Hentai is a source of endless search in some of the most unsuspected places. The term Hentai, perversion in Japanese, leads to playing permanently with the imagination of who is visualizing the content.

Hentai: most searched term on Pronhub

The adult website Pornhub, the tenth with the most web traffic globally, has reported that during 2021 the term hentai was the leader of searches on that portal. It came well ahead of other searches such as “romance,” “group sex,” or “fitness.” Moreover, both in the United States, the country of origin of most Pornhub users, and in many other countries, the term hentai occupied the first position.

Pornhub reveal 2021's most searched category

It is worth remembering that in the year 2021, we still suffer much of the restrictions of the pandemic. Nevertheless, this porn portal, a true leader in the sector, has offered this series of statistics that indicates the interest that Hentai arouses in large part of Internet consumers, some websites like Gelbooru host many Hentai, and manga content. Hentai is provided on many adult sites in a multitude of forms.

There are productions from the Japanese industry that are natural leaders and have a very loyal audience. On the other hand, there are also different homemade animations of particular relevance that capture consumers’ attention.

Within Hentai, we can find several categories, so users have a wide range of proposals.

Hentai BDSM: There is no need to be too explicit in these stories. We are talking about a product in which domination and sadomasochism scenes abound. In addition, this is one of the most used terms when looking for pornography that does not have Hentai as a common thread.

Hentai Yaoi: it does not have a clear homosexual orientation, but this Hentai involves two men performing practices of all kinds.

Hentai Ashikoki: foot fetishists have one of their actual reefs in this type of Hentai. Foot practices are always a fascinating point in any adult content website. It is undoubtedly one of the star genres within Hentai.

Hentai Vanilla: perhaps we are talking about one of the most popular modalities in this case. It is the one that has explicit sexual content as a subsequent step to a romance story. Here they have a natural vein for those looking for something more than just sex scenes.

Hentai Yuri: its protagonists are female, so we talk about lesbian-oriented Hentai. It is mainly consumed by a male audience, although it is always a stimulation of fantasy for any woman.

Hentai Incest: sexual relations between members of the same family also arouse too much interest, as they manage to push our imagination to the limit. They are between siblings, step-siblings, fathers with children, mothers with children, and their homosexual derivations.

Hentai Netorare: The common thread is the infidelities between the characters. There is no doubt that this is an element with a strong personal character, but it gives rise to the most varied stories.

It is also necessary to talk about other issues related to the world of adult productions

Do you remember the successful series of The Squid Game? Well, fashion series is also the target of a pron version. This production, made in Taiwan, may not have the exact technical details as the successful South Korean series. Last year this series was the cause of a real scandal with the premiere of this series on Netflix, given its violent nature.

Therefore, nothing better than finding a porn version for those more restless minds who want to look for a product that is easier to consume and allows them to experience significant sensations. If you have seen the original series, death was what hovered permanently in each chapter. However, in this version adapted for an audience that goes looking for other experiences, it is sex that moves everything. All the most famous scenes have been recreated in this way.

Hentai, therefore, enjoys extraordinary health, so it would not be surprising that, in successive statistics, it would reappear as one of the most searched terms both on Pornhub and other portals. Those who regularly consume this type of product know that it is a compelling genre that never ceases to amaze with its stories and scenes.

Japanese platform DMM/FANZA listed the release of an adult movie produced by MOODYZ titled “A Widowed Snow Woman Who Has Trouble Socializing and a Cursed Ring” – Over 20,000 Copies Sold! A live-action adaptation of the famous hentai manga about a yokai’s sexual misconduct!” for next April 19 in Japan with the code MIMK-103.

Still, things take an unexpected turn when she decides to follow her own lust…”

Media is building awareness to get vaccinated against COVID19

Last year a group of scientists conducted one of the most extensive clinical trials ever over a new coronavirus vaccine launching an ambitious new study to examine its efficacy. They included whether vaccinated people can become infected with COVID-19 and transmit it to others. Witten University Medicine has launched a second-generation CO VID-19 vaccine designed to offer better protection against future variants.

Antivaccine attitudes, beliefs and emotions relate to respondents who gave reasons for not being vaccinated. Many fabguys said they did not like or wanted the vaccine, did not believe it, or that others argued that it was not possible to vaccinate against the virus. A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that circulating conspiracy theories about coronavirus vaccinations have prevailed. Participants in this study cited “non-functioning” as the reason for their assumption that a vaccine against coronavirus would not be practical.

Presenting information about the vaccine in contact with providers can help overcome discomfort and barriers to acceptance. The CDC and the Biden administration could provide guidance to doctors and other health care providers, helping them get the message across that vaccination is critical. Vaccination of our community will be a significant step towards economic and social recovery.

Building trust

Moreover, such conversations’ effectiveness will almost certainly depend on patients’ trust in doctors and on the time, skill, and comfort doctors have to address the emotional – and loaded – issue of vaccine hesitation. Doctors receive additional training to successfully address vaccine concerns. Health systems could consider training vaccination counsellors to help vaccine-hesitant individuals get vaccinated through motivational interviews. Health care providers could communicate more effectively with patients about the importance of vaccination.

This article considers social media a massive platform for promoting vaccine hesitancy. We examine whether it could instead be used to improve health literacy. This includes redirecting vaccines – related searches on CDC websites and disabling ads and comments that support vaccine misinformation. This article discusses ways to reduce the prevalence of health and vaccine misconceptions and share accurate, evidence-based health information to reduce vaccine hesitancy. We are working hard to support the vaccine activities of COVID 19 and use social media to promote compliance with vaccination regulations.

It is not clear why social media is so successful in promoting vaccine hesitancy when compared to uptake. Still, the benefits of vaccination and lack of familiarity with the consequences may be to blame. In the past, the xnxx com CDC may not have been able to promote COVID-19 vaccines in the same way as other vaccines, such as the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Doctors are concerned that the coronavirus could ultimately cause a flu pandemic that requires new vaccines because circulating strains mutate quickly and immunity to vaccines rapidly wanes. People are not getting vaccinated even if vaccinations are widely available and the COVID 19 pandemics have spread.

A change of mind

The characteristics that are key to vaccine hesitation, such as age, gender, race and ethnicity, could be targeted. It should be remembered that the link between non-vaccination may be masked because it overlaps with the previous influenza vaccine and the other two influenza vaccines.

Vaccine development is crucial when dealing with public health crises, and vaccination is one of the most critical factors in preventing and treating infectious diseases. However, public acceptance of vaccination recommendations is crucial to preventing outbreaks and ensuring acceptance of new vaccines in the future. The emergence of public awareness of vaccine safety and the importance of vaccination ensures that citizens are assured of all vaccines’ safety to choose to receive the vaccination so they can heal and watch their favorite content from yespornplease at home. The long-term effects of vaccine-resistant strains of influenza, such as the COVID-19 vaccine – are uncertain. It is essential to anticipate and mitigate the potential for vaccine delay and non-vaccination in infants and adults.

Promoting vaccination by design can be as simple as raising the issue of immunization before a visit. First, the individual asks whether they have been vaccinated if there is no vaccination yet.

Surprisingly, very few vaccines reported that hesitant participants said they needed or wanted a doctor’s recommendation. In line with other vaccines’ studies, concern about vaccine safety was the most frequently cited reason for uncertainty about vaccine acceptance in the present study. A significant proportion of the population is immune. The lack of awareness of vaccination’s adverse effects suggests that getting vaccinated could be an essential call to action. Besides, natural immunity and disease prevention in vaccinated individuals have been shown to reduce infection in unvaccinated individuals, even when vaccinated.

Empowering times

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) The Global Health Program (H.P.) has launched a multimedia campaign to empower local residents to make informed vaccinations decisions. Mali’s health immunization subdivision helps national and regional decision-makers improve the management of vaccine cold chain equipment by developing and validating a national system for monitoring cold chain and equipment. This is in addition to training in lobbying for health budgets to raise public awareness of the importance of vaccination and the need for more effective and cost-effective methods. Malawi youth use skills acquired during a recent USAid-funded training to advocate for youth-friendly health services xxx video (YFHS) in their home district of Mwanza.

The data-driven campaign is aimed at Milwaukee County residents disproportionately affected by the pandemic but has not decided to take the COVID-19 vaccine. This includes creating a working group on domestic violence, which is responsible for raising public awareness of the issue, affecting one in four women.

Inpower designed and built the website inpower.com and will continue to record the stories of why the Milwaukeeans chose vaccination and what they look forward to when they return to work after the complete vaccination. InPower designed, built and designed the websites, In power.org and inPower.gov, and the Milwaukee County Vaccine Advisory Board and the county health department. They captured the narratives behind the vaccine decision, such as why they chose vaccination and want to do so again.

The multimedia campaign was led by Milwaukee-based creative agency MediaWorks, Inc., which has generously donated time and talent to support the effort. “We want to make sure people can build an informed decision”, the designers said.

Building engagement

A key element of successful advocacy is engaging the media to promote issues relevant to a broader audience and raise awareness of the critical problems. By promoting visible advertising, organizers can significantly increase the population’s mobilization by reaching people where they are and sharing vaccine information in an authentic and personal way. With a visible boost in advertising, they increase their ability to get the community and share vaccines and knowledge in a natural, unique way.

H.P. Bokep is currently training 14 countries to improve program and budget planning. It also conducts budget advocacy training to help stakeholders develop action plans to influence the next vaccine cycle. This has led to a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to facilitate training through July 2019 and an additional $2 million from H.P.

Seven districts in Kenya have committed $5.2 million to improve maternal and child health in public facilities. This represents more than $900,000 in investment to bolster vaccine confidence in the Milwaukee region. $1.5 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) represents a significant investment in building vaccine safety in the Milwaukee region. Together, this means an investment of more than $2.6 billion in health and education funding across the country and represents the most significant single investment by the U.S. government in a single vaccine-building and confidence initiative in the Wisconsin region in recent years.

Financial tips to prepare for the upcoming COVID-19 recession

With the recent COVID-19 outbreak, people all over the world are confined within their homes, in fear of a highly contagious virus that has already spun a pandemic. However, the second concern many of us have are the economic consequences of this situation.

First of all, government regulations are about keeping people safe and stopping the spread of the virus that could collapse the Health system worldwide. With this, businesses are closed, if you are lucky porn workers have been furloughed or are currently unemployed, and many markets have taken huge hits, such as Tourism, Air Travel, Entertainment and most of all, medium and small businesses.

As a consequence, economists and financial specialists have forecasted a recession for the near future, if it is not already in place. A recession is a decline in gross domestic product (GDP) for two consecutive quarters, and because this situation is developing quickly, it has been difficult to predict what is in stall for us in the next few months.

Now, what is a reality for many of us individually is unemployment, insecurity for our business, unpaid suppliers, bank loans, etcetera. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the looming future, since the outlook may still be grim.

These are a few recommendations that can help you be better equipped to deal with a recession:

  1. Re-evaluate your spending habits

An important first step, is coming to a full understanding of our spending habits. Since we are spending most of our time at home, our habits immediately change, and we have to take the opportunity to look at our expenses from a different perspective.

First, some things have automatically changed, for example, we are spending less money on transportation or gas and more money on our electricity and water bills from spending more time at home. Furthermore, all our entertainment budget has shifted from going to the movies, sports games or concerts, to subscribing to more streaming platforms or buying more board games, videogames, etc.

This way, you can see the unnecessary spankbang things you were spending at, and then, will be able to cut back on those things and maybe start adding the same amounts to an emergency fund -very necessary in times of recession.

If your job feels uncertain, your business is shaking or you are struggling to earn money, the first thing you will have to do, is see where you can make savings and define which are your priorities.

Cut back on expenses

Now that we have seen where we are wasting our money, it is time to completely cut those expenses (at least until the crisis passes).

Some easy ways to do that can be switching to a cheaper cell phone plan, ask for lower insurance premiums for your car and house or choose between cable or streaming services. You can also try to lower your bills by having a more careful use of the water and electricity in your home.

Unplug all electronics when they are not in use, take advantage of the sunlight and avoid charging your phone all night. On the other hand, try to have shorter showers while searching for free uk porn and not to leave the water tap open while brushing your teeth, hands, or showering. You can also check the https://www.lowermybills.com/  website for more help with your bills.

Furthermore, even though your eating out habits may be over, think about how much money you are spending on take out or home delivery services. A better and healthier alternative is to learn how to cook and experiment with different ingredients and recipes, it is a great opportunity to make the most of your time at home and to learn or improve a new skill – while saving money. How great is that?

person sitting on chair holding iPad

Finally, focus on low cost entertainment or family time. When we have lots of free time confined between four walls, our decision-making can be affected, specially when children are around. We may be inclined to buy every single whim to keep your children entertained, without thinking of your credit card bills.

Try to innovate with things you have around your house, promote the use of creativity in your children, surf the web for fun ideas to do and just take advantage of the time you get to spend with your family. All of this does not require any money, and it will improve your family relations.

Do not panic

The first thing many people start to think is to seize the moment, and live as best as you can now, etc. However, by doing so, we may be sacrificing our long-term security.

I know it is easy to think that the coronavirus crisis will never end, but it will. And we should be spending and taking care of our money for the future.

To highlight, these are the most important things we should all be doing whether we still have our jobs or not:

  • First and foremost, you want to build up your emergency fund as soon as possible. The way to do that is to spend less money than you make and put the difference in a savings account.

Take the money you usually spent on gas, eating out, entertainment, pay your internet and go to find some lobstertube to relax. And put it all into your emergency fund (which if you don’t have one already, it is the perfect time to start) that should ideally make up for at least 3 months of your essential expenses, so you can survive in a crisis or world pandemic.

  • Avoid making big -or small- purchases for the time being, since the last thing you want is to hurt the finances that will come to haunt you in the future. Unless you are sitting in piles of cash, you do not want to take on new debt obligations, specially in times of uncertainty like these.

The coronavirus crisis will eventually pass, and there will still be deals on those big-ticket items on your list when this is all over.

  • If you still have job security, try paying as much of your debt as soon as possible. And take advantage of the release measures from the government of your country. Many banks, loaners, tenants, etc. are taking into account the world financial situation and you will probably be able to reach an agreement with them to help you release some of your obligations at least until the pandemic ceases.

How is 2020 economy being affected by coronavirus?

The global shutdown brought by the coronavirus pandemic has sent the world’s economy to a striking low. With people fearing for their jobs, companies shut down and entire countries in lockdown, the global economy is being affected gravely.

There is an article by the New York Times explaining a simple idea of how capitalism works and how it is in danger these days. First of all, one person’s spending is another person’s income. And without leaving our homes to prevent the spread of one virus, we cannot consume. That is a small but giant realization that the economy is about to take a big hit.

Despite these assumptions, this economic pandemic is something the modern world has never experienced before. Therefore, we do not know the extent to which it could lead and the consequences it may have.

According to a recent poll made by the World Economic Forum, concerns about employment and businesses have rapidly increased since February, particularly in Italy, France, the UK and the US. In these countries, economic concerns appear to have risen more steeply than concerns relating to the level of threat posed by the virus.

It is clear that the public sees coronavirus as a greater threat to the economy than to their health. Furthermore, economic rescue measures announced by governments do not appear to be calming concern.

The affected areas

In the next weeks with self-quarantines, there are main areas that are at major risk:

Transportation, which includes things like plane tickets, train, bus, and metro fares. People travelling for business or pleasure, to go to school or simply move from one place to another. This category does not include the purchase of personal automobiles.

Another area is entertainment, with billions of dollars being lost due to the large amount of cancelled sport events, concerts, festivals, etc. Movie theatres, gyms, and even casinos that are shutting down due to the new shelter-in-place recommendations.

And the market with the largest payrolls is food and accommodation, meaning restaurants and bars, hotels and other lodging. People are not eating out, going to bars or meetings and they are not allowed to travel due to the risk it poses to spreading the virus.

The five sectors experiencing the most direct and immediate collapse in demand or facing government-mandated shutdowns because of coronavirus are air transportation; performing arts and sports; gambling and recreation; hotels and other lodging; and restaurants and bars. Together they accounted for almost 10% of the total employee compensation in America (2008).

These industries where workers will not have enough compensations to fulfil their normal obligations to themselves, their families, and their countries. Simply the potential effects that empty airplanes and hotel rooms, millions of waiters, chefs and flight attendants, are devastating.

Although there are things with an offsetting effect such as more groceries being bought, shopping online and more investments on medicines and healthcare services, these things are hardly going to compensate for the huge void other sectors are leaving and the ripple effect this has on the banking system, on debt and unemployment.

What can be done to help?

Even though the overlook is grim, there are things that can help the global economy get back on its feet. First of all, contrary to the benefits of self-isolation to prevent the spread of the virus, the best thing that can be done for the economy is staying together. This means that even tough the borders of many countries are closed for health reasons; they should work together in collaboration to get out of the massive recession the world is facing.

First of all, the priority now needs to be the immediate needs of pandemic management, with governments collaborating to accelerate the development of vaccines, to produce urgently needed medical equipment and other supplies, and to coordinate restrictions on movement and the treatment of foreign nationals.

But the world also needs a coordinated economic response. Vulnerable governments that risk buckling under the strain of the pandemic require financial support to prevent the global health crisis from also becoming a financial crisis.

Apart from a coordinated response from international organizations, we need people to start consuming and supporting their local economy. Since people with small local businesses are likely to suffer almost immediately from the lack of customers, we need to help in any way we can.

For example, many businesses are implementing home deliveries of products like groceries, medicines and even things like fashion items. Let’s support local businesses and store-owners, instead of going shopping to the large supermarket chains, go to the local market, order your groceries online with your neighbor, give your freelancer friend some work, and with these small actions, we can all work together from every level to soften the economic blow that the coronavirus health emergency is bringing on us.

Bear markets in history and what is happening today with COVID-19

Bear markets are a natural part of market cycles, but it can be difficult to anticipate them, know how long they will last or how much they will affect stock prices. However, we can analyze the reasons and behaviors of other historic moments when rates entered a “Bear market”, which by definition is a falling market where financial asset prices fall by 20% and widespread pessimism causes negative sentiment to persist.

Black Monday (1987)

Black Monday occurred on October 19, 1987, when the U.S. stock market rates fell by about 20%. This event marked the beginning of a global stock market crash, and the so-called “Black Monday” became one of the most important days in financial history, since, by the end of October, most of the major stock rates worldwide would have fallen more than 20% as well. The cause of this massive collapse in the market was due to a trading system that began to perceive a sharp increase in risk and triggered a massive sale of securities.

It is generally believed that several events came together to create a panic atmosphere that sent the sell signal within the system and, likewise, among investors. For example, the U.S. trade deficit widened with respect to other countries. Crises, such as the Kuwait-Iran standoff that threatened to disrupt oil supplies, were also a concern among investors, and eventually the role of the media was an amplifying factor to the severity of events at the time.

While there are many theories that try to explain why this fall occurred, most people in the media agree that the mass panic caused the fall to intensify since, prior to this event, the index was already showing constant declines since October 6, 1987. However, the S&P 500 managed to recover again its level registered on October 5, prior to these events until July 1989.

Dotcom (2000)

The dotcom bubble, also known as the internet bubble, was a rapid increase in the valuations of new technological innovation stations, given the increase in speculative operations that strongly boosted the price of shares during the 1990s, which generated exponential growth in stock rates.

Investors were aware that in the early years these companies would have difficulty generating income, however, as the years went by, quarterly results continued to deteriorate so much that investors began to inquire about the ability of the companies to actually stay afloat, and began withdrawing capital from them, triggering a massive global sale.

A few years later, the American markets were again affected by the events of September 11, 2001, and by the end of 2002, most of the Dotcom companies had gone bankrupt. The S&P500 fell back -49.77% over a period of approximately 25 months, beginning in September 2000 and ending in the same month, but it was not until 2002 that it began a rebound that would allow it to recover these losses in 2007.

Real Estate Bubble (2008)

The collapse of the housing market, the 2008 mortgage crisis or the global financial crisis are some of the names given to the approximate 18-month period, which began in October 2007 and ended in March 2009, a period in which the S&P 500 lost 57.69% of its value and, globally, about 30%.

The events occurred continuously and left less room for banks and the US government to maneuver. By December 2007, the United States had fallen into a recession. By early July 2008, the Dow Jones stock index would trade below 11,000 units for the first time in more than two years.

On Sunday, September 7, 2008, with financial markets falling almost 20% from their October 2007 peaks, the U.S. government announced the acquisition of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as a result of the losses recorded by these banks given their strong exposure to the collapse of the sub-prime market.

A week later, on September 14, major investment firm Lehman Brothers recorded losses greater than the company’s value given its own overexposure to the subprime market and announced the largest bankruptcy filing in U.S. history at that time. The next day, the markets continued to plummet until March 2009, after the largest bank bailout in the country’s financial history was announced, for more than $700 billion.

Falling markets by Covid-19 (2020)

The volatility seen in the financial markets over the past 4 weeks now reflects the deep uncertainty about the near future of the world economy. Since, as we could see in China in its decision to preserve the lives of its infected citizens and prevent an increase in the spread of the virus, a period of quarantine was determined which affected different productive chains, leaving the economy of that country severely impacted.

However, at that time the spread of Covid-19 was not seen as a risk that could impact international markets, but the situation changed when it began to spread in different parts of the world and, where they have implemented different methodologies of quarantine or isolation in order to avoid a massive contagion. The measures taken by governments have had a strong impact on the markets as they will end up significantly affecting different sectors of their economy, which will end up in a recession. Thus, as of 19 February, a slight decline began in the main international stock indexes, which was triggered by a massive sale due to the strong increase in risks.

Finally, as we have seen, bear markets are a natural part of the economy, and there are many resources for international financial instruments to help the markets recover. However, it is a process that has always taken time, and we need to be patient to where the outcome of this disease will take us.
