The abstract submitted to the Doctoral Symposium should be no longer than 3 pages, and include:
Summary and motivation for the proposed research
Background and related work (including key references)
Description of the scientific aspects of the research
Validation metrics and plan of experiments
Progress to date
Any specific issues highlighted for discussion
In addition, a 1-2 page appendix (placed after the references) should include the following:
Detailed contact information, including complete address and affiliation, e-mail, fax, and telephone
A statement (by the student) of the expected benefits of participating in the Doctoral Symposium
A statement (by the advisor) supporting the student’s participation in the Doctoral Symposium, with the indication of the expected date of graduation
A short CV, including the list of publications
The abstracts must be written in English. They have to be comply with the two-column ACM Multimedia 2010 proceedings format (available at http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html), and submitted in PDF format to the Doctoral Symposium Chairs.
